Meera Aggarwal is the new Mayor of New Delhi Municipal Corporation
NDTV carried the Press Trust of India's report on the evening of 30 April 2012: three-time councillor Mira Aggarwal had been elected unopposed as Mayor of the newly created North Delhi Municipal Corporation, with party colleague Azad Singh of Mundka becoming Deputy Mayor, at elections held in the Civic Centre.
The report recorded the essentials: fifty years old, a law graduate, elected from the Sawan Park ward in the 15 April municipal elections, unopposed because the Congress fielded no candidate. It also recorded the six-member Standing Committee elected the same day, and looked ahead to the East Delhi corporation electing Annapoorna Mishra the next morning.
